Anyone used the babysitting services?

Recommended Posts

We are going on the Enchantment in September and will have our 3 year old and 1 year old with us. I know they offer both group and in-room babysitting in the evenings for an extra charge. Has anyone used this service? We would want to use it one or 2 late nights so that we can get out and enjoy the casino and clubs. I'd prefer to do the group thing just because I'm not crazy about the idea of a stranger alone in our room with my kids.

Are we crazy to bring young kids with us?

I am travelling with a 5 year old in July on the Marineer and will be booking an in room babysitter - as I don't think he will get any rest in the kids club at night and then will be grumpy the next day. You can't book before you get on and they said it was around $5 per hour. They do not change nappies or take to the toilet though. Hope this helps

I think you are right about not leaving them in a room with a total stranger. Espeically that they are basically too young to say if anything should happen. The group good and the kids will also have more fun.:D

See doc below for guidelines; No group activities or sitting for a 1 year old on RCCL. 3 years and toilet trained is the RCCL minimum for group activities. In the Advt Ocean club rate is $5 per hour after 10PM for the kids 3 years and older.

Cabin sitting is recommended at $8.00 per hour

Used service twice on last cruise in March for a 3 & 6 year old and went just fine

we are taking out two kids (plus relative with us that are taking their pre teens with them) on Enchantment 9/7 right after you). Our kids will be 1 and 5 for the cruise. we also cruised before with our daughter when younger. As long as your 3 year old is potty trained the group daycare is free until 10 and you pay a fee for each hour. Your one year old is not elgible. Only for in room babysitting. RCCL charges $8 for two kids of the same family per hour. in your stateroom. So far I heard good things, tried it once and found it fine. And i am a child abuse investigator. This cruise we plan on using hte group daycare for our older one until 10 and have a babysitter for the two of them after 10. also since we have all our in laws coming withus my MIL and FIL won't be able to stay up past 1 am so they will releive the babysitter. It is whatever your comfort zone is. I also want to have fun at night (my time - i can party like i am 21 - i am 29). And no its not crazy that you want to take the children with you. Its fun for them and fun for you. That is why we take every other cruise with them!

We did in room babysitting on Celebrity with our then 10 month old, and will be doing it May 28 with our now almost 3 year old and 16 month old. We had the sitter come after we put him to bed. We also took walkie talkies and gave one to the sitter so she could get in touch with us wherever we were on the ship, and we could call her w/o waking our son. Also, we did a couple of random unannounced stops, like after the show on the way to the casino/disco/bar etc. We are even doing the late seating dinner b/c dining with our two maniacs is no picnic! The sitters are typically ladies from housekeeping. If its important to you, request one that speaks English, not all do. Lastly, I think they do change diapers, it wasnt an issue with us then b/c our son was asleep when she arrived.
