Puerto Vallarta recommendations

I'm on the Carnival Pride setting sail on 7/16 and I'm looking for some ideas about what do in PV and where to eat while there.

First and foremost, doing the canopy tour is not a possibility. I have looked at some of the excursions that Carnival offers and wanted to see if anyone has opinions on them. In particular the following are being considered.

Mismaloya City Tour

Rhythms of the Night

Royal Dolphin Swim & Sea Park

Tequila Factories & Old Town Tour

Unimog Outback Adventure

Are there possibly other excursions outside of the ones the ship offers that you would recommend? If you any web links for excursions or what not it would be of help.

I am also looking for recommendations of restaurants in PV and in Cabo. Again web links would be cool. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide me in my research.

I loved walking the Malecon in PV...but I just love sculpture and WOW, it was amazing! We were not there at night but I have read the Rhythyms of the Night reviews that would make this one a real consideration if we were there that long.

Great restaraunt in Cabo? My vote goes to The Office.

My wife and I did Rhythms of the Night last summer in early July and it was wonderful. The staff goes all out to make it a memorable and fun experience from the boat ride there to the ambience at the destination. Everything was beautiful! The dinner was very good too.

A day excursion we took that was a lot of fun was the Sierra Madre Expedition. We saw a different and interesting part of Mexico apart from the tourisy areas.

A memorable restaurant is the Vista Grill. The food is excellent and there is a magnificient view of the city.

From your list, I would do the "unimog outback adventure". I believe the tour operator is Vallarta Adventures and this is the link to their site for excursion information - http://www.vallarta-adventures.com/jeep-safari/index.html This is a fun filled day that doesn't drag you through all the standard tourist traps. After that, take time to clean up on the ship and head downtown for dinner and shopping. Here are a few of our favorite restaurants. The La Palapa and Vista Grill are 5-star gormet quality. Burros Bar if fantastic pub grub on the beach. It's all good and where you go is a matter of personal taste in food.

WE actually did the Dolphin Swim but it was not at the Sea Park it was at Vallarta Adventures. You can look up their website at http://www.vallarta-adventures.com . We had a great time it was amazing. We also had a couples massage at the Krystal hotel and it was PERFECT. It is walking distance from the port and it is only $75.00USD for a couples massage for 75 minutes. We rented a open air taxi to take us to downtown the ride was the best part. I highly suggest the things I mentioned above.

We actually decided to do the Day Sail in PV. It looks like fun. We'll probably check out the Vista Grill and do some shopping afterwards. Thanks for the input....

Good choice too. I believe this tour is also run by Vallarta Adevtures. They put two boats out on the water. If given a choice, ask to be on the 44-footer.
