Stupid question I know but how much are sodas on the Star?

Wife and I drink more soda than booze and were wondering if it pays to buy the all you can drink soda card they offer.

If the prices are the same as last year, it is about $5-6 per each day of the cruise for the soda program, plus 15% gratuity.

So I guess what's left to figure out is if you drink $5.75-$6.90 worth of pop per day. The other part to factor in is convenience. It's nice to be able to ask for a soda and just flash your S&S card, rather than have to sign a slip each time. That is, if you're ordering a lot of them. It's also nice not to have to carry your own sodas on board, if you would choose to do that.

I used to get the soda program, but decided I didn't drink enough pop to make it worth it for me. I take along a 6 pack - enough to get me to the first port anyway. I like ice tea with lemon, which is free and available almost everywhere. (Not in the lounges.)

Have fun!

I believe a can of soda is $1.75 plus 15% gratuity. I prefer to buy the soda card. However, with the card, you do not recieve the can...only a glass of soda. I like the convenience of the card also...just walk up to any bar and flash the card. I usually stopped to get a soda to take back to my cabin at night. Actually, anytime I was heading back to the cabin I grabbed a soda to take back with me. On our cruise, we spent a lot of time around the pool decks and I enjoyed many sodas while out in the hot sun. You would have to think how many sodas a day you would want on an Alaskan cruise...as you will not be spending any time poolside.

OK here is what we paid it was $46, if you are a big soda drinker then go for it! We used the OBC from our Travel Agent to buy one card. In some places they did give you cans! I know my bpyfrien when we were in the Casino would order a pop and they woudl bring him a can!

Smeck,

What did you decide, (buying a soda card or not buying a soda card) and if you were to do it over again, would you stick with the decision you made?

We didn't buy a soda Card. We bought soda in Seattle and brought it onboard. We also bought some in Ketchican they have dollar Coke machines at the dock 20 ounce bottles. A lot cheaper than the 1.75 they charge for 12 ounces onboard or the soda card.
