Heathrow to Dover Transportation

My family and I will be arriving at Heathrow Airport on the morning of June 3rd and need to make our way to Dover for our cruise. We are a family of six and will probably have a lot of luggage since our cruise is for two weeks. I was wondering what the best way to get from Heathrow to Dover would be? I've heard everything from train, to taxi, to even renting a limo for the six of us. Any suggestions or Ideas?

This is a 2- 2.5 hour trek. Cost can be a factor with this type of distance. Have a you thought about the cruiseline transfers?
