smeyer418 Posted May 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2006 I saw a TV report that the requirement for returning Americans to show a passport from Canada, the Caribe and Mexico was postponed again by the Senate but I haven't found a print lnk yet. Redsgj Posted May 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2006 I found this article on the internet but it seems to indicate the change is for the Canada/US border only (maybe Mexico too). It doesn't indicate anything about the Caribbean. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060518/1060152.asp edit - The January 1, 2008 (aka Dec 31/07) deadline was specific to the land borders only so I don't think this change would affect the Caribbean. From the US Dept of State Travel Website December 31, 2006 - Requirement applied to all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. December 31, 2007 - Requirement extended to all land border crossings as well as air and sea travel. - this is the deadline they are changing I think
garycarla Posted May 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2006 Don't worry about passports, just do what millions of others do. Cross over from Mexico. Don't need no stinkin passports! - Okay, not serious, but just making a point. Our government is so worried and busy with paperwork and hassles for the good guys, but then millions are getting in with ZERO paperwork. Something does not make sense here, does it?
