NCL Hawaii Price Drops...

Just a little heads-up for anyone who is booked on NCL for Hawaii and still has not made their final payment:

We were booked on Pride of America for early Sept. in Cat. II, inside, for around $1230pp. I decided to go to NCL's site and re-check pricing since we are about a month away from final payment and found that the price had dropped to $1166pp.

After contacting out TA, he came back and said that they were now offering Cat. L guarantees for around $840pp, something that was not available when we first booked. Worst case we are in Cat. L and hopefully see some kind of an upgrade, but the savings from II to L for the same square footage inside cabin made the saving seem worthwhile. The fact that we may now be on deck 7 instead of 11 does not really bother us. We're not wealthy and can now put the savings toward other Hawaii-related expenses.

Do yourself a favor and see if your cruise has come down in price. Just be sure at the NCL site that you manually remove the insurance option that they add on right away to the pricing.

PS. I know that there is alot of negative comments being posted about the US-flagged NCL operations but let me tell you this:

About 5 years ago we were a few months away from our US Lines Patriot cruise and were reading nothing but horrible stuff here about the ship, the food, the service, etc. We were very nervous and regretting our decision to take this cruise with a group for our wedding, but since we had gotten our flights and arranged everything we decided to go and hope for the best.

We had a great time. The ship was older but nice and clean. The staff was friendly and the food was good. It was an all-around positive experience and we worried ourselves silly for many months for no good reason.

Unfortunately 2 days after we returned from our cruise 9/11 happened and US Lines folded for financial reasons shortly thereafter. Now NCL has taken over the 2 US Lines ship-builds ( America & Hawaii) and we are looking forward to our 5th anniversary back on a ship in Hawaii and not worrying too much about negative comments on the boards.
