disappointment beyond words...

My wife and I were scheduled to sail today on the Sensation to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. However, I suffered a back injury yesterday and we had to cancel. We are utterly devastated!!!...The good news is that I did purchase travel insurance which covers pre-trip injuries. Also, we are just going to delay our celebration a bit......because.......I booked us on another cruise which sails on June 11!!! This, at the least, reduces our disappointment and gives us something to look forward to. 3 weeks and counting...

oh Craig, so sorry to hear about your cancellation, glad you could rebook!

 

we went to the beach a couple of years ago and before we even got suitcases out of the trunk, Bernie hurt his back....we spent several hours in an emergency room and a weekend on drugs before coming back home....

 

we don't buy trip insurance usually, but it probably is a pretty good idea....

Sorry to hear about your back injuries and not being able to cruise today, what a letdown. Hope that you're back on your feet soon. Great to hear that you were able to reschedule that cruise.

Aww...so sorry for your disappointment. Hope your back feels better soon.

 

I leave for my cruise on Thursday and have stayed away from anyone who is coughing, sneezing, or looks like trouble for weeks!

How awful! Glad you were able to reschedule, though. Try not to think of it as a cancellation, just think of it as extending your anticipation factor! ;) Hope your back injury heals quickly and you can enjoy your upcoming cruise to the max. :)

I'm really sorry to hear about your back injury and I hope that you'll be well rested and feeling much better for your trip in three weeks. You are now a walking advertisement for purchasing travel insurance:D ! The good thing is at least it didn't happen while you were on your cruise so your whole vacation wasn't ruined. At least this way you've still got something to look forward to. Feel better and have a great trip.

A big THANK YOU:o to all of you. Your posts of encouragment have me feeling better already. I forgot to mention that we re-booked the same cruise on the Sensation, so only the date has changed. This is a great group of people on this message board, with great advice. Happy sailing to all!

Hi,

So Sorry! about your back problems and congrats!on your 25th. We just booked out first cruise and I didn't take out insurance maybe I need to rethink that and take some out. Enjoy your cruise and being together for your 25th that is a very special date. My hubby and I have been married 30 yrs and it just gets better.

Glad you had the insurance. I never sail without it...now, I have a recent reminder of why I spend the extra money. Sorry it came at your expense though!

 

I always look for a meaning to something. If I were you, I'd drop an extra $10 in the slots the first night. Maybe you were destined to cruise later so you could hit the big jackpot in the casino!

Oh no! How upsetting to look forward to something as much as a cruise then to have to postpone it! :eek:

 

I'm so glad for you that you purchased the insurance. We always do and sometimes I wonder if it's a waste of money...Looks like I will continue to purchase it!

 

Get better, and enjoy your cruise in June. :)

Hope you feel great in time for your cruise! Take care of yourself and be careful. Like the previous poster, we always take out the insurance and thankfully have never had to use it, but your experience is exactly why we spend the extra $$.

I am so sorry to hear about your back. I understand your pain. The Sensation is a wonderful ship!! No matter when you go it will be Wonderful!! sorry about your back. I noticed in one of your other posts that you are celebrating your 25th anniversary on 5/23. My wife and I are also celebrating our 25th anniversary on 5/23 and we are also taking the Sensation for an anniversary cruise, but our is 6/18/06. We had to delay ours because our USAF son is home on leave for a month after 6 months in Iraq. This is the first time we've seen him in 2 years, so a few weeks delaying our anniversary celebration was well worth it.

Thanks again for all of the encouragement. My anticipation for June 11th is building, as we are set to sail on the Sensation! If you didn't purchase insurance, GET IT NOW. After my injury, my feeling of utter disappointment was overwhelming. I thought that we would miss the cruise AND the money we paid for the trip.:eek: It was actually my physician who brought up the subject of trip insurance. I told him that I had purchased insurance, but that I believed it only covered sickness and injuries during the cruise. He told me to check my policy, because he had to cancel a cruise a few years before due to sickness. He said that he received a refund for the full amount of the trip, except for a small cancellation fee. I checked my policy when I got home, and sure enough, it does cover pre-trip sickness and injuries. :pWithout it, we could not have afforded to pay for another cruise. Thanks again, and BUY THE INSURANCE! You never know when something may happen.

Sorry to hear of your accident. Fortunately you were able to reschedule so soon. My DH, 2 DD's & myself will be on the same sailing. Congratulations on 25 years of marriage! That will be us next year.

Glad you will be OK and able to take the cruise a little later. I can empathize about back problems; my back has really been giving me problems these last few years. One morning I couldn't get out of bed and eventually moved ever so slightly around the apartment leaning on a desk chair! My wife and I both remarked when it happened "good thing were not leaving on a cruise today"...everyone has to have priorities! Enjoy your 25th anniversary cruise; we did ours last Dec.

I am so sorry to hear of your injury. But, it is not disappointment beyond words. Disapointment beyond words would having this happen and NOT having trip insurance.

 

Your story is enough for me to buy trip insurance for my next cruise and every cruise I take after that!
