Thriller Labadee Powerboat Tour

Recommended Posts

Is this a new excursion ? I've never seen anyone write about this before. I'm curious if anyone has and what their experience was like. Was it worth it? For those who aren't familiar w/ the excursion here is the description from Royal's shore excursion website.

Thriller Labadee Powerboat Tour

Approximate Duration: 45 Minutes

Adult: 42.00 (USD) | Child: 32.00 (USD)

Be prepared for an exciting and adventurous coastal cruise of the surrounding Labadee area. You will be escorted from the shoreline of Labadee to the Thriller Powerboat, a custom-built state of the art tour boat for a sightseeing tour you are sure to remember! Riding at high and low speeds, this narrated tour takes you along the scenic shoreline of Hispaniola and makes several photo stops at select vantage points. Get a glimpse of Fort Citadel, high atop the mountain side, Amiga Island and the Bay of Acul, where Christopher Columbus discovered the new world in 1492. Join an exciting adventure on a vessel with plush seating, plenty of music and spectacular ocean views! Minimum age to participate is 5 years old. This is a bouncy ride and is not recommended for guests with back, neck or heart problems or pregnant women.

I took the Wildcat high speed boat ride in Bermuda. The copy for this excursion is almost the same as that was. It was a 2 1/2 hour around the island tour. It was fun, although it was raining. I think this would be the same thing. The Wildcat did 30 knots!!! Try it & let us know. I'll be in Labadee 10/07.

They have this same thing in St. Thomas. One day we were at Megan's Bay and it pulled in. When it tried to leave 1/2 hour later it broke down! All the pax had to swim to shore and be taken back to the cruise ship in taxis. The line of people getting ready to jump into the water made it look like they were being forced to walk the plank! I have to say it was hilarious. I guess it was fun until then, but some people weren't wearing bathing suits and had to swim to shore in their clothes!

  • 2 months later...

I have it booked already for our upcoming cruise. I am excited about it cause my partner would not do the wave runners, so this was the next best thing. Looks like it could be fun!

Took the power boat excursion in Nassau, but it was more of a all day thing stopping at several private beaches etc...it was great fun and really fast. The pax sitting up front got bounced around quite abit (which was fine w/my boys) and the ones in the very back the the wettest. There was also two boats going on our excursion so they would do trick like fly over each others wake and criss cross at top speeds.....

We took the waverunner "tour" in Labadee this was our second time to do this. I say "tour" because it's like a "follow the leader" excursion (at top speed) my kids loved it, I did too, but just make sure the water is not rough the day you go. When we went waters were very rough and I hit a big wave, turned to quick and BAM off I went (fx a rib...still healing) it's a fun excursion just be careful...watch the winds.

I'm not sure what is "new" about it because I did this last August with my 8yo on Labadee. It was just like the description above. It was fun and somewhat informative and since you can't leave RCI's private area, it does give you a chance to see some more of Haiti. Everyone even got a chance to drive the boat at high speed while the captain stood on the bow taking your picture with your camara for free. That was a nice surprise.

Would love feedback on this vs the waverunner?

I've only done the waverunner here, but boy did we take a beating! We have rented waverunners on inland lakes many times, but the ocean was just a little rough that day and boy did it beat the stuffing out of us. I was actually glad when the 45 minutes was up.
