Alaska June 21 on the Mariner

Recommended Posts

No one's over on the Roll Call board.....perhaps we'll find others sailing with us over here!

This is a "last minute" booking for us as DH's work & travel schedule is so erratic. He WORKS part of the time in Alaska (Kodiak) but is really looking forward to this trip.

Anyone joining us?

Ted-

Sorry to hear she can't join you! DH & I were to go on a safari to celebrate his50th a couple of years ago...had to cancel because of HIS work. Just didn't want to "celebrate" without him. While we're "chillin' out" in Alaska, where will she be?

While we're chillin', she'll be steamin'--in New Orleans. So, I have promised her that this cruise is a "reconaissance trip", in preparation for "the real one" to Alaska that we will do together some day. We often accompany each other to conferences, but neither of us expects the other to go along to the south in the summer. Cheers.

But I live in southern california, and there is a very popular

morning radio tak show host named Bill Handel . His show airs from

Los Angeles and transmits almost all over So. Cal. and further.

His personality--at least on the Radio--is a very loud and boisterous

nature. For a very long time before this date he has been advertising

his show on the radio for months trying to get his listerners to go with

him on this cruise. I have been hearing the commercials for months

prior.

He is a very popular personality on the radio and he has done groups

like this before with RSSC. I think he always gets a big turnout for

his travel groups.

While I tune in faithfully each morning to his radio show, I am

glad I am not taking this cruise with him and his group.

I am sure you will have no problem knowing which one he is.

good luck ----would love to hear about this after the cruise

thanks, see sic

Swell. Just what is needed to destroy the experience. I really appreciate the heads up. Sounds like a group more interested in going on a cruise per se, rather than using the ship to reach interesting destinations otherwise difficult logistically to explore. God (ship's captain?) help us all.

When I was a TA living in central Florida, I used to escort such "radio-personalities" and their entourages of "groupies" on various land-based trips as well as cruises. They tend to be SO wrapped-up in themselves and their "loyal listeners" that they're rarely a bother to anyone else. We shall see if that's the norm here..... Kg
