What is Beach Glass ????

CRUISE BUG BIT HARD

Recommended Posts

It is glass that was dumped in the ocean years ago, and now the tide is bringing it in, it is all just pieces, but they have been made smooth from the water and sand. The glass we got, I put in a vase along with a piece of pottey that says Bermuda on it with a pink house. It was painted by a local shop owner in St. George, she also gets her peices at the beach mentioned in the previous post. Hope that helps!:p

In New Jersey.. we call it "Sea Glass"... I too have a large collection of pretty different colors in a vase. It is so pretty.. always referred it as sea glass.. not beach glass though!

On Cape Cod is it called either name...dates back to when glass was dumped in the ocean, and it is tossed and turned in the waves and sand and becomes covered with a whitish film and is no longer sharp...certain colors are more difficult to find at the beach than others, and it looks great in a clear vase in the sunlight...also, now they make jewelry out of it!
