Another insurance question - TravelGuard vs StaTravel

Recommended Posts

We always buy travel insurance, just before our cancellation date, and usually through TravelGuard. At the suggestion of another CC member, I just did a comparison between TravelGuard Savvy Traveler insurance, and the StaTravel insurance. They're comparably priced. Anyone have any comments, suggestions, or advice regarding which one to get? Thanks! :D

Are the coverages identical? Most of the major companies out there are fairly reliable so it usually comes down to coverage versus price. One item to keep in mind if someone in your party has any type of medical condition you have to buy the policy within 7 to 14 days of your initial deposit to have pre-existing conditions covered. Here is an excellent article about travel insurance: http://www.thetravelinsider.info/2002/1011.htm Make sure you read the second part too, that is where most of the "nuts and bolts" of travel insurance is covered. They also give you a link to a site that compares 25 policies for coverage and cost.
