Ballroom Instruction?

Does Celebrity have Ballroom Instruction on any of its longer cruises? We were recently on the JOS and the ballroom instructors were a big hit!!

If ladies didn't have a male partner - so what? - the only problem was deciding who would be the 'leader'!!! It was great fun and we learnt a different dance every day.

Certainly fits Celebrity's image - and since they have 'hosts' on board on longer cruises to dance with single ladies, this would help the single ladies in the lessons!!

I have seen dance lessons given in the Bar at the Edge on Summit on a number of cruises. It was a big hit with the large group from Korea who were on our Summit cruise last February.

We are recently back from a 10 night Mexican Riviera cruise on the Infinity and they had ballroom dance lessons in the afternoon. They also had some instruction in the disco at night. They also had a couple of gentlemen dance hosts floating around for some one who needed a partner. Tom

The longer cruises have 'gentlemen dance hosts', and they and a member of the activities staff will typically have ballroom dance lessons during the afternoons. The ones on CONSTELLATION were always well attended. A fun way to get to know more people on your cruise, too!

Cheers~

The dance lessons on Celebrity are given by some of the dancers - not ballroom instructors. Celebrity used to have professional ballroom instructors but opted to use their dancers instead of comping a cruise. Unfortunately, the quality of the lessons have gone downhill since they no longer use professional teachers. They don't even teach the basics of ballroom - movement around the room and slower dancers keeping to the middle of the floor leaving the outer edges for those that travel. We also found that several times they were teaching a dance to the wrong music.

We have taken ballroom lessons for a number of years and usually go to the lessons - we find an unobtrusive corner of the room and use the music to practice our steps and routines.

I have found the dance instructions to be very helpful, at least 90% of the time. They are usually taught on sea days by one or two of the show dancers. The dance hosts are usually present to assist single females, in addition to giving tips to us males who ask. Mind you, these instructors are not teaching ballroom etiquette for the most part, but do a decent job of teaching the basics of many ballroom dances such as cha cha, swing, fox trot, salsa, etc.. The more sea days, the more dances and/or routines you can learn. And yes, it is a good way to meet fellow passengers, while having fun at the same time! :)
