Cabo Wabo Waborita

Hello,

 

We visited Cabo Wabo on our cruise. While there, there is a giant board on the some of the walls with a recipe for a Waborita - which we had. I took a picture of it and my photo didn't turn out.

 

This is NOT the same recipe that is on the Cabo Wabo website, that I do know for sure. It had a few more ingredients than just the tequila, lime juice & triple sec.

 

If you have seen this recipe, if you could share, I would truly appreciate it.

Sammy Hagar's Waborita

Recipe Courtesy of Sammy Hagar, 1999

 

2 shots Cabo Wabo tequila

1-ounce fresh lime juice

1-ounce Cointreau

Splash of Grand Marnier

 

Combine all of the ingredients in a shaker with ice.

 

Shake several times, strain and pour into a salt-rimmed margarita or martini glass.

 

Yield: 1 drink

I have what I believe is the same picture you are describing but cant figure out how to post it. Anyway here is the recipe from the wall of the Cabo Wabo Cantina.

 

1oz. Cabo Wabo Tequila

1/2 oz Damiana Liquo

1/2 oz orange liquor (Grand Marnier)

1/2 oz lemon juice

Mucho ice

Pour all booze & ice in shaker.Shake until ice cold.Serve straight up in salt rimmed martini glass.Drop lemon peel(muy importante!)

Enjoy!!!

Note: Damiana liquor is not available in US (I double the Grand Marnier)

YES!! That is it!! I knew it was different from their website and was so bummed about the picture not turning out. Love the idea of doubling the GM. Will give these a try this weekend. I actually picked up the Cabo Wabo at Costco, for less than it was selling AT Cabo Wabo.

Great idea... but I wonder about their prices. Their price for Cabo Wabo Reposado is outrageous. I only paid $35 at Costco. But I will look into it more! Thanks!!

Thanks for posting this recipe... I've been looking online ALL afternoon trying to find the recipe posted on the wall~ I can't believe the recipe on Sammy Hagar's web site is not the same as on the wall... I knew the one on the wall had Damiana liquor... in fact my husband and I were sure to buy Damiana to bring back to the states so we could make the "waboritas"! Anyways, glad that it was posted! Thanks!

Having the picture from the wall of Cabo Wabo, I thought it would be good to post the contents here. Raider23 ... you were close, but this is that fine recipe for the Cabo "Waborita":

 

1 oz Cabo Wabo Tequila (100% blue agave)

1/2 oz Damiana Liquer (when available)

1/2 oz Orange Liquer

1/2 oz Lime Juice (fresh squeezed)

Mucho Ice !

Pour ingredients in shaker with lots of ice

Shake it up until ice cold !

Serve straight up in a chilled salt rimmed martini glass

drop in a lime peel (muy importante)

A splash of blue curacao

 

Enjoy ...

Just to add to this, some time ago I actually saw a video of Sammy mixing a Cabo wabo.

His suggestion for the Damiana substitute was to use Cointraeu in it's place. Otherwise the recipe was the same.
