Carnival Valor or Carnival Miracle......

Valor does Eastern and Western, so it would depend.

What are you looking for? I found the Miracle more laid back, much quieter at night... which wasn't good for me but is for others. I preferred the Valor, but they are both great ships

Went on the Valor this past April, and absolutely adored it. I did the Eastern itinerary. St Maarten is awesome.

Would go again in a heartbeat.

What are the opinions of these two different ships and ports of call?

Hey fun!

We have not been on either. But we booked the Valor for Dec. on the Eastern. We have heard good things about her:) If you have not sailed before then, I will let you know how it was.

I liked the Valor's Eastern route quite a bit last December. It's a good time of year to go to the Caribbean, IMO. :)

Hey bob, how was the weather in the Eastern route last Dec? We are kinda worried about that:)

We were on the miracle and we're doing the valor next april. The miracle is great, 4 ports, we like more ports, after all the point for us is to see these fun places. The nice thing about that is if one is cancelled (Costa Maya was cancelled when we went) you don't feel cheated really because you saw three anyway. I chose the valor too because it had 4 ports. I think I'd go with miracle my first time if choosing between the two. The difference in the two itins is miracle goes to costa maya and valor hondorus. I'm iffy aobut hondorus and costa mays sounds so quaint and it has ruins......both are great though!

We were on the Valor last week. We had a great time, but 4 ports in 7 days was probably one port more than we would have liked. I prefer the layout of the Spirit class ships better (Miracle is a spirit class ship), but I hate sailing out of Tampa. That's mainly the reason we opted for Valor out of Miami.

Haven't done the Valor, but he Miracle was AWESOME! Truly enjoyed our Dec 04 cruise. Ship is tip top and maintained very well. Staff is polite and helpful. I too liked Costa Maya and the Port of Tampa is the easiest, cleanest and most well run I have experienced.

So true. Sailed HAL Zuiderdam in Jan. It has horrible! For a line that is supposed to be a cut above, it was certainly lacking. I can't say I've found a better ship than Miracle. I hear the smaller Carnival ships that were used for Katrina victims and have been refurbished are great too. Have fun!:)

Other than the Tampa dig I couldn't agree more. That one extra sea day seems little, but I really love it. Been on both ships and they are both very good quality for the money. Only negative on the Miracle is Belize, IMHO.

Haven't been on the Valor, but we loved the Miracle. Chris (GoinCruisin) is right, though, it is a quieter ship in terms of nightlife. For us, no big deal, because we had a ton of fun in the casino, piano bar, deck parties, and late night comedy shows. Spirit class ships have a great layout. :)

We found belize to be wonderful, we went on smugglersrun plantation excussion (private) and it really gave us a flavor for the place. I'd recommend that - you'll be treated more like a friend than a paying customer. Belize is on the Valor itin as well though!

The reason I avoid Tampa is because of the 2 cruises we took out of there, both times our ship was significantly delayed returning to port because of fog. Apparently, this problem isn't unusual in Tampa. One of the times it happened, it created a huge mess, because 4 other ships couldn't get back to port as well and we were all almost 12 hours late arriving. Naturally, everyone missed flights, hotels became difficult to book, etc. Some people weren't able to get out on flights until 2 days later due to the sheer volume of passengers affected by this. That's why I try to avoid Tampa if at all possible. Nothing personal against Tampa itself.

We did the Miracle in 7/05 and are hoping to do the Valor (Eastern) in 4/07. We really enjoyed the Miracle, but did find 4 port days in a row a bit much for our first cruise. Even the kids were dragging by port day 3...thank goodness I planned it to be a beach day anyways!

I can understand your frustration with Fog, but an additional 12 hours on the ship? As long as I had my cabin, that would be awesome, but then I'm only a 4 hour drive away in Jacksonville.

Is Karl with a K still on the Miracle? He was a HOOOT! Miracle was calm? Wow, I was quite impressed. Can't imagine what more excitement would be like. Or, I'm really a fuddy-duddy! :)

The Miracle is awesome! Costa Maya was beautiful and we enjoyed the Aztec ruins we went to from Cozumel. Also went on a sunset catamaran cruise that was great! The Port of Tampa is very convenient though Carnival had a computer malfunction that delayed us getting on board. Getting off was a breeze. I would always reccommend the MIRACLE!

Reagan, it was not a fun 12 extra hours on the ship. We had to vacate our rooms; our luggage had all been taken the night before. We sat around waiting for updates from Carnival, taking turns using a phone to call around and make hotel reservations and new flight reservations, etc. Believe me, it was definitely not fun!
