Live From The Crown !!

Hi Thereuare,

According to the deckplans that you can view on the Princess website, it appears to me that your cabin is right below the very corner of the Casino on Port side (probably below a few slot machines), and also right below the very corner of a Mens bathroom. Not sure if the noise might come from the slot machine (doubtful), people moving a chair (it's probably carpeted above you so I don't think that will be an issue), the only thing else would be the flushing of the toilet (you got me on that one, but would that be any different from the flushing next door). anyway, good luck, either way.

I'm going to disagree with you on this one... When I first looked at the plans, this appeared right. But when you scroll down on the plans, you'll see that the staircases don't line up. I zoomed in on one to make the two sets of staircases line up and that puts P246 under the back of the theatre. Actually, I'd say your room would be under the potted palm on the Princess deck plans. That makes the wait service area the most accurate. I'd guess that would make it even quieter than being under the 24-hour casino.

We just started looking into Dave's Shuttle. What time will they be getting you to the pier, and what are you paying? Thanks. We leave on July 29th.

Steve, Dave's is charging us $150 roundtrip for the two of us. The pickup point is the Holiday Inn on City Avenue right where it meets the Schuylkill Expressway. I don't know what other pickup points it has.

They said that someone would call us the night before to tell us what time to be there. I honestly don't know how many stops it makes BEFORE it hits the road to NY, or how many stops (airports? anything else?) before it gets to Red Hook Terminal. I doubt that THEY know that ahead of time. It probably depends on their bookings. I DO know that it would have cost us $180 in parking fees, plus tolls, plus gas, plus MUCHO AGGRAVATION. (if we drove ourselves)

Merion Mom - Thanks for the info on Dave's. We are on the 8/7 sailing and are starting to look at limos. I e-mailed him for a quote before your last post. Am I right that he has several pick up points (Holiday Inn included) all going to the same place. Do you just park your car at the Holiday Inn and how much does that cost? Have you used them before and they are reliable? Thanks for your help.

Wondering if you have had a chance to check it out and is it as crowded as everyone thinks it's going to be? This is the area my group is really looking forward to as we are school bus drivers and day care workers! When you get a chance, hope your enjoying every minute, would love to know your opinion. You are being so helpful a feel bad asking!;)

Barb, my father uses them all the time. I used them once to go to Newark Airport. When we did that, I had a friend pick up my car from the Embassy Suites (on Roosevelt Blvd near Grant) parking lot - that was the pickup point that time because it was near my parents' house.

This time, either my son will drive us to the Holiday Inn (it's only a couple of miles from my house) or he will come later and pick up my car.

Thanks for sending so much info "live from the Crown."

For our November trip, I tried to book a late seating table for two in the traditional dining area and was told by customer service that the smallest table the system could book for me was a table for four. could you try to see if there are indeed any two tables in the traditional dining room.

hope your trip is everything I am expecting ours to be.

thanks

WE ARE BOOKED ON THE OCT 18TH CRUISE AND THE TRAVEL AGENT SAID THAT SHE REQUESTED A TABLE FOR TWO FOR US,SHE SAID IT SHOWS UP IN THE COMPUTER AS A TABLE FOR FOUR BUT THE REQUEST WILL BE PUT IN FOR TWO AND SHE SAID IT IS CONFIRMED AS A TABLE FOR TWO.

For whatever it's worth, I live in Lambertville (and travel A LOT) -- which is in central Jersey, on the border of Philly -- and typically call on Speed Limo to take me to the airport or to NYC. I don't have Muhammad's card on me -- my husband tends to keep track -- but he's the owner and a sweetheart and does pick up in northern Philly (I know that cause he's taken us to the Philly airport as often as he has to Newark or JFK).

The only reason we're driving to Red Hook for the 6/23 Crown Princess cruise is that I want to be able to describe for readers the process.

If you're interested, drop me an email and I promise to get back to you tomorrow with his contact info. Write to me at editor@cruisecritic.com.

FWIW, my concern would be if the Parking lot was full.

I e-mailed someone that was in charged of the pier and ask about the parking ,they said there is plenty of spaces and you don't have to make reservation.

They were probably banned from the internet cafe when Princess found out about all the fuss being made on CC in regard to the Sanctuary!!!

Even if the QM2 is in port that is a one way trip for 90% on board. Don't think they will need parking so it's only people on the crown. I wouldn't worry, there will be plenty of parking.

Ugh :)

Home now, had some internet difficulties for the remainder of the trip (laptop stuffs), but I have all patters and lots of commentary.

Unfortunately, I have a wedding to attend this evening but will be making a large post tomorrow :)

Happy Friday to all!!!!!!!!!!

-A very relaxed and pampered Matt&Heather
