Guides for Rio?

We booked all but one of our South American tours through http://www.southstartours.com You have to talk with them on the phone or via e-mail, as they don't list their cruise tours on their website, but we had great tours. We were in Rio 2 days. The first day we had a city tour that included the beaches, rainforest, Corcovado and Sugarloaf, then back to the ship and then were picked up in the early evening for a wonderful dinner and Carvinal show. The next day was our disembarkation day, and we took a tour to Petropolis, which was wonderful. They took us back to the airport and stayed with us until we got through security check-in. We shared tours with 2 other couples and saved money and saw more than we would have on the ship's tours. Our tours were in vans or small buses and we always had an English speaking guide who was not the driver.

Yes, since my mother has MS and is very heat intolerant, we made sure of this when booking, and that is what we got. Petropolis was cool and rainy when we were there, but getting there and back we were sure glad we had air conditioning. We were there in early December, and it was not as hot as it gets later in their summer.
