credit card problems in Alaska?

When we sailed in the Caribbean, we were advised to let our credit card companies know we were going so that they did not refuse a charge from "an unexpected locale". Would this be necessary and/or advised in Alaska since it is part of the United States?

We had no problem using our credit and debit cards in Alaska. But it couldn't hurt to let your credit card company know.

We had some phone messages from our cc company when we returned about some charges we had but they were all good ones. Forgot to let them know we were going. Best to call.:)

Every year we go to Colorado on a ski trip and every year about 1/2 way through the trip, American Express stops letting us charge until they talk to us. (Maybe it's just my DH trying to control my spending, I just thought of that!:rolleyes: ). Anyways, we plan to call before we leave this time.

We go to Alaska every year (grandchildren), but have never had trouble there. The only refusal I ever had was here at home at a gas station. Go figure. Nancy

You should have no trouble up here since VISA and Mastercard are accepted everywhere.
