entertainment on board while in port

copied this from the RCCL boards...anyone have any knowledge???

Been reading a lot about restrictions in Bermuda as far as what the ships can do - such as

1. No entertainment provided by the ship on board while in dock. If entertainment is to be provided it must be Bermudians brought on by RC. Does this mean that there is no nighttime entertainment on board while we are docked?

2. No ship is allowed to provide scuba or snorkel equipment to passengers, must rent it from a Bermuda provider

We have been to Bermuda 8 times on the Norwegian Majesty out of Boston. There is always entertainment on board while in Bermuda. They can't have the production numbers but we have seen magic acts, singers, comedians, and there is entertainment in the lounges. As far as the dive in program goes NCL contracts groups in Bermuda so yes I guess you could say that you must rent it from a Bermuda provider. If you have any more questions I would be happy to try and answer them for you.

Your casinos are closed any time you are in port and don't open until the ship reaches international waters when leaving port. This is true in most any port you call on to respect local laws.

As for entertainment, Bermuda is very protective of their local businesses and don't want the cruise ships to do anything that will take away business from their citizens.

Things return to normal when the ship leaves port.

Are you there for just one day? If so, it shouldn't be a problem as you'll probably be out visiting the port anyways.

Casinos are not allowed to be open while in Bermuda. Your ships stores will also be closed.

I agree with cruisessandr, the only restrictions were the casinos and the stores aboard the ship being closed while in port. The only other restriction was that you could not bring food off the ship to take ashore. Most of the excursions from the ship are booked through local providers as far as boats go. When we took the snokleing excursion, we got the snokleing gear aboard the Majesty before getting on the boat that took us out. The band on the pool deck played every afternoon and night when in port. You couldn't miss the music even coming back on the bus. In some ways I don't know how the local residents could stand the loud music until very late at night. Plenty of other things were going on as well, so don't worry. I feel that the only reason the casino and the ship retail stores are closed while in port is to entice you off the ship to hopefully spend your money ashore.
