Hey TGL,

I am on the that cruise, just posted my info on the roll call. WHile I am technically not a solo cruiser, some of my family members will be going, HOWEVER, I am the only one not paired up, my son, my brother and his wife and daughter and MIL and my parents will be there too. They all have their own interests, and are usually in bed really early, and they do not like to do any of the tours and such, so most of the time, I am basically a solo, doing tours and hanging around the ship on my own. At frist I am always really nervous and shy about making friends but the best advice I can give you is to make friends with the people on the roll call ( i saw your post there) and do your own thing, and join up with them when you start to feel insecure or alone. It can make all the difference in the world to be able to see a familiar face at the pool and join them for awhile till your independant streak sets in, and don't worry about intruding too much, they all seem like really nice people, and if they weren't interested in meeting new people they wouldn't have necessarily joined the roll call ( or at least thats the way I see it). And definitely hang out in the disco's or lounges, it sounds really bad i know, but in the cruise world, thats where alot of people go after the shows and that is where most people meet. I have met people from all over the world and still talk to alot of them just from sitting in the lounge and having a glass of wine before bed. And trust me there will be plenty of people to chat up with, a lot of ladies go there while their husbands are in the casino or vice versa and such. And on my last cruise I met at least 5 other couples just by sitting at the tables around the pool area, since the spaces at tables are limited, many people will come and join you, and then the converstaions just fly! The way I figure it is that there are going to be 3,000 + people on the same boat, and you're bound to meet someone. and if not, come find me, I'll most likely be solo in the lounge after the shows!
