Pros & Cons of Spirit Class ships

Glad to see all of the comments on the Sprit class, we are going on the Legend out of Tampa in October. We have sailed on Holiday, Fantasy and Conquest class ships, looking forward to adding the Sprit class to the list. I am sure we will enjoy, it's a cruise right. Just off Glory on February 10th and October can't get here soon enough, counting the days.:D :D

That's us too Mary. We enjoy the sun and decks, but like our own space. We also aren't much into public swimming. Just not our thing, so we don't need or even want to be by the pool. For this reason, it makes sense for us to spend a little more on a cabin that has some space in the room as well as on the balcony. Some people are happy with an inside cabin because they are hardly in the room. It is all about preferences and what you like and don't like that dictates what you will spend and won't spend.

Goddess and Mary...very good insight on reason for wrap around. We'd probably be the more "mingling" type at least for the first couple cruises...thanks

I really did not like the Spirit class of ships. I found that I had to pass through the casino to get to the two lounges near the ships bow. Traffic was incredibly bad through here any time after 5:00pm. I also found that the bars closed at midnight??? What kind of fun is that. The nightclub was only open unitl 2am, and 10:30-11:00 was 'late' disco night on deck. The ship not balanced when it comes to the flow of the crowd. It's either aft or forward nothing is in between unless you like the casino. I don't think I would travel on this class ship again.

PS- The 'teen program' was terrible. There was not even a place for us to hang out. A group of us (about 5) went to sit in Frankie and Johnnies and they told us that we had to leave, we weren't even talking. So I would recommend this ship to those who like to get a good night sleep.

Con of Spirit Class right now - no waterslide...at least on the Pride on spirit i think...

I was on the Pride in May 2004. The water slide was working fine. I saw the Pride leave port on July 2, 2006. It had no water slide. I saw the Pride leave port again on February 18, 2007. There was a water slide. So apparently the Pride received a new water slide. I am not sure of the status of the Spirit.

I have been on the Holiday (which is a smaller version of the Fantasy), the Pride (Spirit class) and the Glory (Conquest class - which is a bigger version of the Destiny class). I like the Spirit class the best, because:

1) Best space ratio of all the Carnival ships.

2) Offers the advantages of a larger ship without being too big.

3) The ship is easier to navigate.

I actually had to show two people how to get from the aft restaurant on the Glory to the exit on the first day (both had forgotten something in their car and need to get off the ship and then back on). Both could not figure out how to get out of the aft restaurant because the mid-ship restaurant blocks the way.

Sailed on the Miracle with 22 members of my family over New Years 2005. Everyone loved this ship. We ranged in age from 5 to 80. There was something for everyone from karaoke, to dance parties on deck, late night buffets, camp carnival, etc. The crew was great. No complaints from anyone in the group. Would sail this ship again in a minute!
