Ice Cream on Star

I know that they charge for the ice cream at scoops, but is there soft serve ice cream available on the Star Princess?

Sorry ... there is no soft-serve ice cream available on ANY of the current PRINCESS ships. (The old SKY PRINCESS did have soft-serve during lunch hours at the deck buffet.) The is FREE home-made ice cream on the dessert menus for lunch and dinner in all dining rooms, as well as FREE ice cream in the HORIZON COURT during tea time (although hours may vary slightly). The REGAL PRINCESS and ROYAL PRINCESS had been exceptions to this rule, with an ice cream cart in the rear of the buffet area during lunch hours; don't know if this is still the case.

Their home-made ice cream is quite good; better than the Haagen Dazs, in my opinion.
