Need Zurich Hotel

Recommended Posts

HI All,

Coming home from our cruise will involve missing a flight connection, so we have to stay one night in Zurich.

We won't get to the hotel until about 2:00 in the afternoon and then will be leaving the next morning. So in order to maximize our time there, we're looking for something that's very centrally located for walking around. We'd like something in the $200. range.

any suggestions?

Jane

You can try Priceline. We've got Marriott hotel near train station for $125.00 using Priceline a few months back.

We stayed in the Hotel Schweizerhof last May, and we absolutely loved it. We will definitely stay there on a return visit. It's very centrally located (right across the street from the train station that includes the trains that come from the airport) and is a 10-minute walk down the main shopping and scenic street to the water. The decor was great, the service was excellent even considering the high standards of European hotels, and it was just a great experience overall. We got a good special last year and paid about $250, but it was worth all that and more (buffet breakfast, etc.). See http://www.hotelschweizerhof.com/.

Hope you have a great time. We loved Zurich and took the train to Lucerne too.

Yes, would second the Hotel Scweizerhof. We stay there alot as it is so convienent to the train station and is a wonderful hotel too. They have a champagne buffet breakfast that is hard to beat ( inc. in room rates)..If you need help with luggage the hotel will have the porter meet you ( or help you get your luggage on the train ( for back to airport the next day)..

From airport go down escalator ( under airport is the train).. hop on train to Zurich city and when it gets there the hotel is right across the street.

It is on the corner of the main $$$$$ shopping street called the Bahnhofstrasse. Which is an easy walking street.

From top to lake is all stores, cafes, etc.

There is a wonderful old town about mid way down street on left if you are facing the lake- which has excellent shops and restaurants.

If you have any q's about Zurich just ask. Our favorite city!

Claudia and Donna,

Many thanks for the suggestion. Looks beautiful. I'll check it out.

Vadim7777,

I've always been "nervous" about Priceline though I have considered it for this trip, since it's only one night.

Claudia, see you on the Insignia in Buenos Aires in Feb.
