ATMs on boat? (Specifically the Crown?)

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is an ATM on the Crown? I know I've seen an ATM on other cruises I've taken but I've never been on Princess and I was just wondering. If there is, does anyone know how much the surcharge is? I know it seems ridiculous to be using an ATM on a cruise ship but I leave on a Thursday and I get paid on a Friday so I was kind of hoping to get some extra cash for the trip :) Thanks for any help!

Yes there is an atm machine on all Princess ships...It is in the atrium...I believe the charge is around $3.50....I just used it(June) while we were on the Golden in the Med and I think that was the charge.

I have been on 3 Princess cruises with the 4th in less than 60 days. I have yet to use an ATM on board the ships. They are always broken. If that is the case then you can always do a charge at the Casino Cage for a 3% surcharge that is added onto your room.

I specifically recall seeing an ATM in the casino...and in fact caught a glimpse of the screen displaying the fee (cause two women were flabbergasted at the amount that showed). It was something along the lines of $5.50 for the transaction...

The 3% room charge might be a better way to go.

What I have done personally is to charge "casino gifts" before I leave. That way...it's prepaid on my cash-back AMEX card, so I get the rebate and don't have any cash advance fee. I turn in the certificates at the casino cage, so it provides instant access to cash. So instead of costing me 3%...I make 2% on the deal!

I saw on another thread where a cruiser used a credit card to charge up her shipboard account before embarking and just withdrew cash as needed from the casino or purser's desk without the fee. Haven't tried that myself so I cant verify if it works or not. Anyone do this successfully? I'd be inclined to go that way if it works.
