rcknrbn Posted July 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2006 First time cruiser so be gentle with me. I understand you would purchase a "Sign and Sail" card the day of the sailing. We don't use credit cards. I plan on taking enough cash / traveler's checks for the entire trip. Will any credit balance on the card be refunded to me the day the cruise is over or will I have to wait on a refund check?
caribbean dreams Posted July 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2006 You will get your deposit refunded to you at the end of the cruise.
klfrodo Posted July 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2006 On the very last night, they will close out your account sometime in the early morning hours. IF you have a balnce due you, they will issue you a check and slip it under your door along with your S&S statement. You can take the check down to the Pursers Desk in the morning and stand in a long line to cash it, or you can just take it home and deposit it into your bank account. Gloryhound65 Posted July 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Your Sail and Sign card will be issued to you before boarding, in check-in at the cruise terminal. It's a non-optional item, as it's your ID and room key as well as your method of payment while on the ship. If you don't choose to use a credit card to fund the Sail and Sign card, you may make deposits to the account with cash or traveller's checks. As for when your remaining balance is refunded, that I can't answer. My card was funded via credit card, and I carried cash for tips, excursions, and for use in the casino. SHERA Posted July 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2006 We just used our bank debit card and on the last nite we paid cash thanks to the casino and we took our travelers checks back home.
tankersbabe Posted July 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2006 Your money will be refunded on the last night of the cruise in the form of a check. Hubby and I secure our S&S with our credit card, but carry travellers checks. We continuously pay off our S&S balance over the week with cash from leftover port money and so forth. By the end of the week, we have a $0 on the S&S and no bills to greet us when we get home. We cash the travellers checks at the pursers desk...no issues, no hassle, no fees. PS...if you secure your S&S with cash, you will have to put a specific amount down depending on the number of people you are securing and length of your cruise. I would definitely check on that and make sure you have enough when you get to the terminal to check in.
chrly Posted July 13, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2006 I found this information regarding sail and sign cards on carnivial's website...I hope this answers all of your questions. http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Sail_And_Sign_On_Board_Account.aspx DH and myself have allways used cash deposits and have never had any problems. Just be aware if you are going to secure your sail and sign card with a credit card or debit card.....please, please, please make sure you contact your credit card company before leaving with the dates you will be gone and the areas you are going to. I know from working at a credit card company that they will put a hold on your account for possible fraud if they are not informed because they think someone may have gotten a hold of your credit card. I have had numerous calls in regards to this issue. (I'll get off my soapbox about credit cards):D

That did not use to be the case, but with identity theft rampant...that is an excellent thing to put on your "to do" list.

earlethepearl Posted July 13, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 13, 2006 Also, you can always apply $$ to your account before you leave so it is already funded when you arrive.
