Some Questions About A Group Booking

Hi everyone! We have a trip planned for the Dawn 07. So far I have 4 rooms booked but plan on a lot more coming.:D

How many rooms do you need to get a group rate? Exactly what is a group rate  .

Also, when I called yesterday to book the 4th room the woman on the phone told me that I did not need to link my reseravation to this booking  Is that correct? Sounded a bit funny but after being on hold for over 40 minutes I just wanted to get off the phone and figured I could ask here. :D

Thanks in advance

Technically speaking, there really isn't any kind of "group rate" or discount. I assume you are the "leader" of this group? If so, after you have 8 cabins booked (and by the way, you DO have to have the reservations linked), you'll get one free berth (cruise only, still have to pay port charges and fees). When another 8 cabins are booked, you get another berth free. Here's the tricky part: The free berth is based on the maximum number of cabins booked in a particular cabin. For example, if your group books 6 outside cabins and 2 suites, the berth you receive for free will be an outside cabin.

As a group, what typically happens as an incentive is either a lower down payment or an On board credit, or free bingo tickets or something. It changes frequently. Keep calling the group reservations department for updates.

When in 2007 are you going? We'll be on the Dawn June 16th, 2007. Can't Wait!!!!1

Happy Cruising!!! :D

That's so funny - I'm planning a group trip for the exact day. Don't you just love the new itinerary? We have more time in Nassau. Since this is my 1st time planning a group trip - any advice, opinions, stories (anything :D ) will be deeply appreciated.

Theresa ~ Have you been in the AB on the Dawn before? We were in one last Summer and loved it!!!! You will be sooooooooo spoiled, you'll never want to leave. DH had to drag me off - literally!! :D

Cherie ~ since you and I are on the same sailing, go to the roll call I started (in my signature). I'm the only one who's posted there so far. I'm going to get a CC meet-n-greet set up as well. Bring your group! If you go to the family board, you will see a thread that I started about a family reunion cruise that didn't pan out very well. This was originally going to be just that. BUT, the sisters-in-law were rather rude about the whole thing. Now, it's just us and DH's parents (in their 80's). We tried to do this for them since it will likely be their last big Hoo-Rah, but no one else was willing.... oh well. We'll have a blast. And, our kids will love having Grandma and Grandpa with us.

As far as planning a group, the first thing I would recommend is not booking until you have a minimum of 8 cabins so that you can book together as a group and then as others join, their reservations would be linked in to yours. But, if you want a specific cabin, then book your own first. The group thing can always be adjusted as necessary. One thing that's really cool about the Dawn (well, ok NCL in general) is that if you have enough people (I would guess the minimum 16 would be enough) then you can plan a party in a meeting room with little cost. They will more than likely not charge you for the room or food, just the beverages depending on what you order. Have you picked out your stateroom yet? If you get an Owner's Suite or higher, you can have that party in your cabin for nothing but the cost of alcohol should you choose to serve it. Also, when booking, I would order some kind of gift for all the folks in the group and ask NCL for a bulk discount. Gift ideas: casino credits, flowers, wine, fruit, NCL gear, etc.

Even though this cruise is just shy of a year away, I'm so excited. And, the kids can't stop talking about it either.

Happy Sailing! :D

Hi, we have had the AB before and it was FABULOUS!! It has totally spoiled us. We just came back from RCL and had the OS on the Explorer which does not even come close to the AB penthouse on the Dawn.

I wanted to book the AA on the Dawn, but to my surprise it is only for two. Do you know if this is the same on all ships?

I only wish the cruise was sooner..:(
