Sea Dream Ship Excursions

My husband and I will be "yachting" with the SD II in Sept 2007 from Istanbul to Rome. I have a few questions about shore excursions for those of you who have done the Med with SD.

 

How good are the SD excursions?

 

Do any passengers book private tour guides in any of the ports? Or do they only do ship exucrsions?

 

Do any passenger tour a port on their own?

 

I've been doing some research and so far this is what I've decided:

 

Isantbul - pre cruise using SD recommended company

Canakkale - ship excursion

Kusedasi - private tour guide

Santorini - on our own

Paros/Sifnos - may stay on ship

Athens - private tour guide

Itea - ship excursion

Toarmina - on our own or private tour guide

Almalfi - private tour guide

Capri - private tour guide, on our own, or ship excursion

 

If anyone has any thoughts on these ideas, please let me know.
