Rent A Car

Would like to rent a car in Juneau to visit the mendenall glacier, glacier gardens, and the chapel by the lake. Can someone tell me which rental company to use ? Do they pick you up at the dock? Where can you drop off the car ?thanks :)

We used Rent A Wreck in Juneau. They picked us up at a set time near downtown, drove us to their office where we completed paper work and when we were done we had the option of stopping by their office for a drop off, or leaving car downtown for their pick up. It was a great and inexpensive way for 2 couples to see lots of Juneau. Laurie

Wish we had known about rentawreck last year. We used Hertz but all of the companies at the airport remain at the airport. It's your responsibility to get there and then back to the ship.

They gave us a small credit toward the taxi (they told us on the 'phone that we had to take a cab); it was about $26. one way. They only helped on the taxi cost on the way to GET the car.

When we returned the car, my entire party rode along with me........so there were four of us and the cabbie charged me for each of us. Had we known that, they would have stayed downtown. They were just keeping me company!

This year we are not renting a car there..................there are many ways to get to the glacier, etc. and we can walk to the museum.

I only recommend Rent A Wreck in Juneau. If in port late, pay for late drop off at the pier as their office closes at 6pm.

 

I have reported for years- none of the major rentals here shuttle from downtown, If you have plenty of time there is the city bus for a transfer back and forth.

 

If you do drop off at the office, allow at least 45 mins to return to downtown.
