bappo Posted July 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2006 Hi! I have been seeing posts that perhaps the free shuttle from Marco Polo airport to the water taxi stands in Venice has been discontinued. Do any recent cruisers have information regarding this service being discontinued? Thank-you. Barbara
OrpingtonT Posted July 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2006 Hi! I have been seeing posts that perhaps the free shuttle from Marco Polo airport to the water taxi stands in Venice has been discontinued. Do any recent cruisers have information regarding this service being discontinued? Thank-you. Barbara I have tried to find out but cannot. www.veniceairport.it is a good source of info on the services available. It really is only a short walk, left out of the arrivals building, along the side of another building and you are there. I am nearly 80 and welcomed the leg stretch after the flight. Nevertheless, my guess is that it still operates.
travelingmcmahans Posted July 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2006 As of March when I was there it was no longer running. I don't recall the walk taking very long though.
Liv4cruzin Posted July 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2006 When I departed from Marco Polo in May the only transport available from the water taxi landing stage to the terminal was (I think privately owned) mini vans at 20 Euros a pop!
Binok Posted July 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2006 Hi! I have been seeing posts that perhaps the free shuttle from Marco Polo airport to the water taxi stands in Venice has been discontinued. Do any recent cruisers have information regarding this service being discontinued? Thank-you. Barbara I read on www.tripadvisor.com that the bus is now running again but there is a small charge for the service. I think there had been on-going work which had caused the bus to quit for a period of time.
CAKER Posted July 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2006 See the latest update from cruisechick on 7/26 at 11 p.m., and CAKER's info in response. http://www.europeforvisitors.com/venice has excellent info on the Alilaguna airport boat, with timetables, routes, prices, etc. I have summarized some of the key info in my response.
