What is the name of the beach in St. Maarten next to the airport?

The beach near the airport is Maho beach. Best time to watch the big jets is between about 1 and 3PM. Sorry don't know the taxi fare but it should be between about $10 and $20. Taxi fares are posted at the dock.

How long of a Taxi ride is it? and Would there be time to do a shore exscruion as well as this beach?

The taxi ride from the pier/town to Maho should be about 20 minutes or less (all depends on traffic on the hill). I suppose you can still do excursions depending on how much time you spend at the beach and how long the excursions are.

The exscuion I want to do is about 4 hours long. And I only want to go to the beach for an hour or 2 just to check out the planes.

The taxi from the pier to Maho could be from 20 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day.

 

 

If you happen to hit a bridge opening, you would easily add 15 to 30 minutes. That's not so much of a problem GOING as it might be returning to catch your cruise.

 

The VERY BEST that we've ever done from Sunset to Downtown was 15 minutes, and there's another 7 - 10 minutes to the pier.

It's FAR from being walkable.

 

Assuming you had a four hour tour that departed at 9:00 you should still be able to get to the beach to see some good-sized planes landing.

 

You could save a few dollars by taking a local bus out there. The bus would be labeled Mullet or M'Bay on the sign in the front window. There are stops all along Back Street.
