TomAndJane Posted July 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2006 We are going on a cruise to Alaska that visits both Icy Strait Point and Prince Rupert. In Icy Strait Point you walk to an area for bear viewing. In Prince Rupert you take a boat to an area that you can only get to by boat for Bear viewing. We will be there mid to late September. My question is What place would be best for viewing bears??????

ghouck2532 Posted October 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2006 In Icy Strait, Teckk Outfitters http://www.teckkoutfitters.com offers guided bear viewing and sightseeing in addition to their hunting and fishing excursions. Not sure how much you can see on your own. In Prince Rupert, Palmerville Adventures http://www.palmerville.bc.ca offers float plane tours to the Khutzeymateen Valley, a grizzly bear sanctuary. Budget Queen Posted October 21, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2006 You probably will be too late out of Prince Rupert, and maybe also out of Hoonah. I would verify directly with venders what the season is. It is also different bears, I believe Prince Rupert is blacks, and Hoonah is browns.
