White Pass Rail and Laughton Glacier Hike

Anyone done the White Pass Rail and Laughton Glacier Hike? We are booked on NCL Spirit 8/21 and considering this tour. Looking for feedback from anyone that has taken it.

 

Couple of questions:

 

1. Is the train ride that is part of this tour the same train ride with the White Pass Summit?

2. Is the 8 mile hike a good workout or just an easy walk? Looking for something challenging!

3. Is the ride back down on a bus? Any good scenery on the way back down?

 

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. We really want to go to the summit, but afraid just the train ride would be too "passive" for us.
