Kacruiser Posted July 26, 2007 #76 Share Posted July 26, 2007 The OP is from July, 2006. I tried contacting the Casino host on the Freedom as I want to find out if their are any slot/blackjack/poker tournaments. Still have not heard back, I'll try again as I've heard that the website is under going some upgrades.
pooh99 Posted July 26, 2007 #77 Share Posted July 26, 2007 I'll be on the Carnival Pride on 2nd September and would like to send an eMail ahead. But I can't find out the eMail adress in the given Website. How do I find out? Or does some one have the adress of the host? It will be our first cruise, so maybe it doesn't make sense at all? Black jack-- you are given $1,000 worth of chips and I think 10 chances tomake that 1000 go higher. No poker tornements although they do have Texas holdem
MomofBoyz Posted July 26, 2007 #79 Share Posted July 26, 2007 Just want to second the emotion about proper tipping for dealers. I didn't realize how low the pay was for cruise ship dealers but, even in Vegas where dealers are well-paid, I ALWAYS tip, whether winning or losing. I've noticed a depressing trend with this in lots of service industries. People choose not to tip as a way to save money. If you have bad service, then I suppose that's anyone's judgement call not to tip. However, normal and great service deserves the tip. We've taught our boys from the beginning to tip 15% minimum and up, up for good service in restaurants. Now that they're teenagers, they get a little grief for it when they're out with their friends. Teenagers don't even consider tipping often. My dad always said, "If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat out". Sound like a have a chip on the old shoulder? I guess I might :). Try being a breakfast waitress anytime. A tip on the $2.99 egg special isn't going to break the bank! Nuff Said :)

The highest chip counts at the end get put on the leader board. At least with Carnival, any high chip count that beats the leader board gets put on it. With NCL, only the one person with the highest count at the table gets on it even if the second person at the table has a higher chip count than someone on the leader board. The top 6 people on the leader board and the wild card drawing person sitdown at the final table. Again 7 hands, everyone gets a t-shirt, the winner gets $500 plus a bag, hat, deck of cards. stanford's girl Posted July 28, 2007 #82 Share Posted July 28, 2007 This would be a great place to mention this:The casino dealers get paid ten dollars a day by Carnival, and all the rest of their income is tips. Tips are pooled every day and divided evenly among the dealers who worked that day. Chris How can Carnival get away with paying them ONLY $10 a day?????  They work anywhere from a 8-10 hour shifts or more.

Those cabin stewards will make more in a week then I do in a month. U.S. Waitresses/waiters get paid from their bosses about the same.

They said it is a brand new program and next time we sail we should receive a membership card and #. Not sure if that info helps you out or not Serene.... marym933 Posted July 28, 2007 #88 Share Posted July 28, 2007 I entered my info under "Cruising Again". The site will take 9 zeros for your booking number. I received a reply from Dena Williams, Player Development Coordinator of Carnival Corporation stating that I would be placed on the guest list for my upcoming cruise. GoinCruisin Posted July 28, 2007 #90 Share Posted July 28, 2007 How can Carnival get away with paying them ONLY $10 a day?????  They work anywhere from a 8-10 hour shifts or more.  Cabin stewards work 16 hour days most of the time and make $40-$50 per month... they rely on tips, just like many of the jobs on the ship. The salaries for most of the employees are quite low... As for "getting away with it", they don't have to worry with US labor laws... there is no "getting away" with anything. mydream Posted July 28, 2007 #91 Share Posted July 28, 2007 Please leave a tip for the staff in the casino. Their wages are low and the tips really help them. Most of them try to make sure we have a good time in the casino whether we are winning or not.
trock Posted July 29, 2007 #92 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I was happy that I took the advice of those posting on this site and emailed the casino director for the Elation to introduce myself, say when we would be sailing, etc. He emailed back and said to say hello to him when I boarded and he would have a gift for me...Does anyone have a guess as to what it might be? I don't want to get jazzed about a lanyard, although they are great. Thanks Hi Great advice ! I can not find where it lists the ships?? thanks Toni

Traveler353 Posted July 29, 2007 #94 Share Posted July 29, 2007 OPC site has had a complete make over. You no longer can contact ships directly. Use the "Contact Us" page and use 9's for any past guest booking #'s and membership #'s. The site is still under construction and not all of the features work. In the comments section send your message. Good luck and have fun at the tables. Just remember If you have to win, it is time to quit. ( I saw that on the wall in a casino):D

They just told me to use my sail and sign which was tracking my points - anyone else told to do this?We have always filled out a card too, even on our last cruise earlier this month, but we still just used our S&S card. When I e-mailed the OPC about a week ago they said this is a new program they are rolling out and on our next cruise we should receive a membership card...... I guess time will tell. pooh99 Posted July 29, 2007 #97 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I still do not see where anyone can find out the casino's host name. Can you please tell me how you contacted the casino manager for the ship you were going on. You wont find it on the web site. You need to use the contact field and let them know on which host (ship) you want to contact. They pass your information through and you'll receive an answer from the ship casino host. At least it worked for me very well. It was just about 8 hours I got a repley from the Pride host. I left the membership number just free.
jetskier Posted July 29, 2007 #98 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I put in a suggestion to them that they needed a "Comment" field for the cruising soon form page. That way you could include your booking number since that part doesnt work or any other questions you might have. Dave
kbd0627 Posted August 30, 2007 #99 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Just off the Legend 8/26. Filled out the cruising again soon form and received an email saying I would be put on the list for our cruise. Upon entering our cabin we had chocolate covered strawberries from carnival. After gambling a little first night we received 2 $15. photo coupons at dinner. Again a gift from carnival. After getting to know the casino host (Claudia and she is a terrific person) I asked if the gifts were from her and she replied yes. I thanked her. So it was worth filling out the sailing again soon form. Thanks for the tip.:D
