Port Canaveral Question

We will be docking in Port Canaveral and were thinking about booking the Universal Studios excursion. Has anyone taken this excursion? It says that the ride is about an hour away. If so, Did you just do the regular excursion or the Fast Pass which allows you quicker access to the rides? Do you feel that the Fast Pass was worth the extra money? We will be going in September, so perhaps the lines will not be as busy and the Fast Pass would not be needed as much as they would if we were going in mid summer.
