slk230red Posted July 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2006 We are considering going on the Pride of America the first week of January, 2007. Has anyone gone on a Hawaii cruise in January? We are concerned about rough seas and missing ports due to weather conditions/big waves. Someone told us that they had gone once in January and missed most of their ports. Thanks, Dave

Thanks, Dave I don't think this is normally the case. The water might be a little rough, but there is no really bad season in Hawaii. Jan isn't as nice as some months, I will say that. Normally the port that often is missed is Fanning Island but you aren't going that itinerary. Hopefully others will jump in here and give you even a better idea. KeystoneCruiser Posted July 31, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2006 Mike Kaye might be a better person to answer this, but in my opinion the only port in the POAm itinerary that might be a question would be Kona. Since Kona is a tender port, it could get too rough for the tender boats, but since that is the calmer side of the big island, it may not be a problem. I don't think Hilo, Kahalui (Maui) or Kauai would be a problem since those are docking ports.
