RPJS05 Posted July 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2006 Hello all! Soon to be first time cruiser here... I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on the casino on the ship... My BF loves to gamble, and I love some 3-card myself. From what I've seen the hours are pretty vague so I was wondering about that. Is it mostly slots? Lots of tables? No complimentary drinks I am assuming? hahah... Also... I've never been on a big ship before. I have gone deep sea fishing, speedboats, a casino boat and other party boats for graduations and what not.. i have NEVER gotten sick except for the casino boat mentioned above. It was brutal, I was concerned about my cruise so my doctor gave me the patch (that goes behind your ear). I didn't get to talk to her about it, I left her a message and she just called it into the pharmacy. So has anyone used this? Im not sure how rocky a big ship would actually be. Going in the water was another concern of mine, with the patch staying on and all. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance! I was told in the past that the patches aren't that great for you- Out of all the people we've taken on trips with us, not one has ever used it. It's a huge boat, and sure, anyone can make themselves sick, but have fun and don't think about it, and you'll be fine! The Casino has a nice variety of everything- slots and tables, I know my fiancee spends time in their every night when I'm getting ready- he got pretty lucky on the tables the last cruise. Let me know if u have any other questions!! Have fun!

sdear Posted August 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2006 I know those casino boats you are talking about, and I got seasick on them as well. My DH and I have been on two carnival cruises, and we couldn't even tell we were on the water ! It's totally different being on those huge ships. Good luck and have a great trip !! I used to think, I never got seasick until I was aboard ship in the navy :) The patch works well. as does bonine (over the counter, doesnt make you as drowsy as some of the others) also you could try seabands, they are the wrist bands that you wear that work on a pressure point, the actually work well, I've used those. You'll also find some posts on here about ginger capsules. I've never tried them but people on here swear by them so if you are concerned about being drowsy they may also be worth a shot. Have a great time on your trip!

Have a great time on your trip! I tried putting the seabands on the one time I got sick, but they didn't do a thing for me. I wasn't expecting to get sick since I never had, so I didn't have the bands on untill after I was sick.. that might be why they didn't work so well for me. :( But I am excited about the patch! I'll probably test one out before I go, I heard some people had a problem with the side effects, i.e. blurred vision. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the tips! thats the problem with the bands, they arent too helpful if you are already sick :( , I would also try out the ginger root if you discover that the patch affects you. Some people used to get headaches from it, at least the ones we had when I was in the Navy. There is also bonine too , good luck
