Veendam cabin advice, please!

After several thoroughly enjoyable cruise experiences with Princess and Royal Caribbean, we would like to try out another line and a smaller ship for a Baltic cruise in July 2007. We've pretty well decided to book an unobstructed oceanview cabin on the Veendam--probably the July 13 sailing.

That still leaves a lot of choices, though! Does anyone have suggestions about cabins/areas to seek out or avoid, either in general or for this particular itinerary?

Thanks so much!

When you say unobstructed you must be referring to the Lower Promenade deck, the only deck with obstructed view cabins. This is very propular location. There is easy access to a wraparound deck with teak lounge chairs. Many refer to having a "super sized" balcony. The windows are tinted for "one way" viewing, which is truly effective only during the day. You'll need to keep the drapes drawn with lights on after dark.

Category C is midship, close to the stairs/escalators and laundry rooms and, of course, unobstructed.

If the windows are a concern, then a good alternative is Main deck.

The outside cabins on Main Deck are slightly larger than those on Lower Promenade. They have a better view of the ocean, too. They are still very close to the largest veranda on the ship, and have easy access to/from lifeboat drill.

I would choose one just aft of the atrium area---toward mid-ship (for a smoother ride), but not too far from the forward staircase/elevator bank.
