Day tours from Rome

Recommended Posts

Due to a change of dates, we have found we now have an extra day in Rome.( 5 instead of 4) Does anyone recommend any day tours, that we could take eg Capri, Pompeii etc or is it too far to do in one day. We are visiting Florence & Naples on our cruise, but as there is so much to see in the port of Naples, was wondering if maybe a day tour is an option?? Any advice or tour guides would be appreciated, as we leave in Oct. 2006.

Probably the most famous day trip from Rome is Tivoli and Villa d'Este, with Hadrian's Villa.

Another day trip is to have lunch outside of Rome someplace and see the catacombs.

Also close to Rome for a day trip (which most tourists don't get to see because of the amazing sights to be found within Rome proper) is the town of Ostia, which is basically Rome's beach city and resort.

The sights within Rome, plus any combination of what I mention above, plus some unstructured time just to wander, get lost, do some shopping, and have a nice meal, will more than amply fill your five days.

Kind regards,

Gunther and Uta
