Adults With Soda Stickers?

By the way how much is a soda card now and how much is it to buy a single soda?

I am not positive but someone in our small group calculated it that you needed to buy an average of 3 soft drinks/day to make the soda card pay for itself. That was last month on the Diamond.

We were just on the Diamond where most of our group (all adults) bought the coke sticker. I dont recall getting any strange looks, and we almost always got prompt service. I'm sure they're more interested in dealing with people who drink large quantities of alcohol, but that's understandable. Since there's no other place to use the coke card than at the bars, I'm sure they're used to it.

Now, if they would just start having more caffeine free options...

I bring a large, insulated mug along with 2 twelve packs of caffiene free diet coke (we drive to San Pedro). I have the cabin steward empty the frig and I load it up with my coke. I ask for a bucket of ice, fiil up my mug and I'm good for the morning. I go back to the cabin for fill-ups and I bring the mug with me for meals/shows, etc.

The bucket of ice is a room fixture, everday (after the first ask, you'll never have to ask for it again)!

I keep re-stocking the frig. as needed and even the room steward will learn do it for you! For a one week cruise this works great!

I've tried the coke sticker but I hated the service and even hated the amount of coke and melted ice even more!

This won't work if you're flying.....the weight would kill you!

I love the idea of the "Princess Smoothie"! I'm going to try it!

Happy Sails,

Roz

Ok I have a couple of questions here. Someone posted that the only place to use the soda card was at the bars. Can it be used in the Dining room for dinner or the buffet. What about the smaller cafes? Also if my Dh and myself each buy a soda card is there one sticker that reads 2 Soda cards or do we each get a seperate sticker?

Well, technically of course, you're not supposed to share. But I've never seen any bartender check the card closely. They usually don't touch it at all... just usually a "lemme get this transaction overwith quickly" type of reaction. Not rude, just quick and efficient, and onto a "real" drinker.
Actually, morally you shouldn't share and I wouldn't recommend to someone that they can get away with buying just one sticker for two or more people just because the cards aren't checked too closely.

From what I understand, the soda stickers aren't useful for the dining room. You can get your soda first on your way to the dining room, but if you want a refill while eating, you would have to pay.

Big soda drinker, but Pepsi products. So I bring them onboard. I can't imagine anyone caring what you drink. The only reason the bartenders would give you 'tude is because you prepaid the tip. If you do feel some real hesitation, note the name and put on your comment card.

We had the soda stickers and never had trouble with getting our drinks. We were in the anytime dining rooms and the waitstaff happily brought my husband more Coke (I was too busy drinking wine to worry about soda with dinner) as many times as he wanted.

We did think that the soda in the Horizon Court was a lot weaker (watered-down) tasting than soda from the various bars and restaurants. Many times we got our soda from the bar between the pizza and hamburger stations. It was great and the bartenders never overlooked us for those ordering alcoholic drinks.

We had no trouble getting soda service in the theatre either. We did give the waitstaff a few extra dollars here and there throughout the cruise so perhaps that helped. They seemed to start recognizing us by day 3 and we had stellar service every time.

my daugher had a soda sticker on the grand a couple of weeks ago.

we actually purchased it in the dining room on the 1st night.

Every night after that there was a diet coke waiting for her when she got to dinner and and refill if she wanted one

she never had any bother getting a coke in any of the bars

I used mine everywhere on the ship, in the bars, in the buffet, in the dining room, at all the outside bars. At dinner time in the dining room, we just had to show our cards once to our waiter and we were good to go. In the buffet, I just walked up to the bar myself and had no problems.

I have seen the price quoted as $22 a card and on another thread it is priced at $31. I would like to hear from someone who has just recently been on ship, how much is the darn thing? I probably will drink $22 worth but $31 I just don't know? I have to decide if it is worth it.

For a 7 day cruise it was either 24 or 27 bucks last week. I can't remember, sorry. Anyway, the waiter staff was soo good at the dinner table, I had my diet coke waiting every night, and it was bottomless. They just kept refilling it! So just at dinner I got my fair value. I frequented a certain bar for my refills and tipped the bartender every couple of days. If he saw me coming with my mug, he looked my way and waited for my nod. That was superior service!

Next, what I considered a fair deal. Room service drink menu. For $15 you get a 375ml bottle of Rum/Vodka/whatever plus 8 ounces of beer nuts and 3-12 ounce cans of your choice of mixers. Since I had brought my own cosmopolitan mix, I got about 12 drinks out of this bottle. (Had a nice little cocktail party on the balcony, ask "ibfern" and her husband!)

Lastly, service overall was very good, I will definately cruise Princess again!

The price varies with the length of the cruise.

I am an adult ( well, most days anyway).

I love Diet Coke (it's my addiction in life).

I buy a soda sticker on the ship

I get it at the bar with no problems at all.

My wait staff is very nice about getting me refills at dinner.

I even get the extra big glass from the bartender by the pool when I request.

The casino bartender even fills a glass with it by the time I get to the bar.

I tipped him nicely.

I buy the soda sticker every time but never use the stupid cooler container they want to give you.

I have given serious consideration to taking on a case of Diet Coke but I just don't think it is worth having to deal with the extra trouble when I am just as happy with my soda sticker.

This is now becoming a "morality" thing......not necessary!

My real concern now, is with all of the latest Airplane security (they're checking every single "fluid" that is being brought on board)!

Will it be effecting cruiseship travel as well? We'll see! I bring so many different kinds of lotions/sprays/liquids; they're going to have to add a day for the cruise experience just to check everyone's bags! ;)

Damn terrorists have to screw it up for everybody!

Sorry, I'm a cruise newbie, am I right that anything other than iced tea, hot tea, and coffee I have to pay for? So does the soda card work for juices, lemonade, etc? I'm a social drinker, but not a fan of keeping myself hydrated with alcoholic beverages all day. Thanks :)

My DW and I just returned from Alaska on RC last week and had a great time. Only complaint was paying $96 (7 days) for both of us  for the pop card, only to find that it tasted like crap. Regular coke tasted like diet and diet tasted like.... Where ever we got it the taste was the same. Also it was always in a small plastic tumbler. I actually found their lemonade a nice treat but I didn't pay for it, and DW doesn't like that or iced tea. We are not big drinkers (wine etc). Princess pop has always been good and a lot cheeper price last time $40 (7 days)for both. Sometimes its nice to get a coke in a small glass to make it look like a Rum and Coke, which is my favorite drink. Hope Princess' is still good we go in 3 months tommorrow.:)

I was on a RCCL ship in May and with the tax and 15% included in the cost the card was nearly $50 . You would have had to drink over 7 Sodas a day to break even. At least the cost on Princess is more reasonable.

I got a good tip and tried it on my last cruse and it went great. We live in Florida so we didn't have to fly to the ship. We got a heavy duty cardboard box and put three 12 packs of diet coke in it with some packing materials to keep them from moving around. We taped a luggage tag on the box and checked it with our other luggage. It arrived at the room in perfect condition. We used a collapsible ice chest with wheels (about $20 at Sams or BJ's) for our carry on items and another 12 pack. Our cabin steward kept it full of ice and we had cold sodas in our cabin for the entire cruise.
