HELP! Dawn AA 9506 vs 10506

Hey! My computer's working! I need help fast. I'm currently booked in an owners suite on the Dawn. I'm booked in 9506 because that's what was available at the time I booked. Now 10506 has become available. Could anyone tell me if one cabin is better than the other and why? I know 10506 is a little bigger but does 9506 have more balcony space? Is there any other reason to stay with 9506 that I don't know about? Thanks a bunch!

We had 10506 and friends of ours had 9506. We actually were booked in 9506 but were able to move to 10506 when those folks upgraded to the Garden Villas. the cabin was fantastic and much larger than 9506. I think the balcony was the same. We had a bacony on the side as well as in the front. It's a great cabin. TAKE IT as fast as you can.

Hey Smellytoes!!!

I'll go to Castle Island and wave to you! Oh wait! I'll never see the Dawn from there...;) I think you will love either OS. We've only been in 9506, and it was fantastic. I would like to try a different one next time, but would be happy with 9506 if that were our only option.

We loved Bermuda and the Majesty. It was such a totally different experience from the Dawn and it's many ports. Loved spending the whole time in Bermuda, and the staff on the Majesty was about the nicest I've found anywhere. The OS on the Majesty is much different also, but still nice.

Hope you have a great time! When is your cruise.

Angeljt: I'm glad you enjoyed your Majesty trip. Isn't Bermuda gorgeous? My Dawn trip isn't until April. When I went to booked this cruise the AA's on deck 10 weren't available. Now 10506 is available and I want it. My TA put a hold on it today and will get the pricing tomorrow. It seems about 300 pp less than what it was when I booked. So we'll see if it works out. If not I'll survive in 9506.lol

Smellytoes,

Yes, the Majesty was great and the casino was very loose, which helped with our OB expenses. They watch you instead of using the electronic cards like some of the other ships, and comped drinks constantly.

Glad to hear your TA was able to hold it for you. Will you have to pay more than you're paying for 9506? I hope not. We're thinking about November on the Dawn, but I would really like to go back on the Majesty again, maybe the repo to Charleston. We'll see...

Yes, you will survive 9506 very nicely if 10506 doesn't work out.

Hope you're enjoying this beautiful day here!!!

Angeljt: It is a beautiful day. I wish I could go outside and enjoy but the kids have swimming lessons and my DS has hockey tonight so I need to do housework now:mad:

Flyingpirate: Is there a reason you prefer 10506 as opposed to 9506?? Do you happen to know what the square footage is on the forward balcony?? The aft BA was 93 sq. ft. I was wondering if the forward balcony was larger.

Smellytoes,

Get that housework done quick!!! I am going to wash my floors today since they will dry quickly, and then wait for DH and have cocktails on the deck and pretend we're on the 9506 balcony, which I believe is 150 sq. ft. Wish the room stewards would do my floors! ;)

Flyingpirate will be able to tell you about the balcony on 10506. I believe it is a bit shorter than 9506 (I could be wrong here), but you'll have more room inside and will also have the dining nook in 10506.

This is a picture of the balconies from shore, with 9506 being below 10506.

Thanks for the pics. I still haven't heard from my TA. But 9506 is now available on line instead of 10506 so I think I moved.:)

How exciting for you! You will have a wonderful time and be totally spoiled!

Smellytoes,

The difference in the inside of the cabins is 179 square feet.........I've had inside cabins smaller than that. The layout of 10506 is roomier, and has a bit of a dining room area set up. I think you will be much happier with 10506, even if the kids are stuck down on deck 9.

The balconies are 150 square feet total.......guessing I would say 100 sq. foot forward, and 50 sq. foot on the side.

I have to believe the 150 sf listed is for just the forward balcony. With the ACs forward balcony over 200 sf. The side balcony is far larger then 50 sf since an AF is 56 sf. The side balcony is more then twice that size.

So Shoreguy, you think the forward balcony is bigger than my aft balcony? I believe the aft balcony was 93 square feet. I did notice that the kids hung out on my balcony more and it got a little crowded. If we have a little more space that would be great.

Hi Smelly -

Stop worrying, woman! The kids will love it!

The front balcony is huge! The side balcony is also huge, large enough for a table and four chairs as well as a lounge chair. Breakfast on the balcony couldn't be better.

I'm still sputtering over having to accept 9506....the larger balcony doesn't make up for the small room, as we use the side balc most of the time anyway.

We're on the list if the current res holders cancel, hope to get lucky, too.

Much bigger :)

Just pirated this shot from Laurel's webshots in her signature 10506 on the Star. And you have two balconies, You can make one the adult balcony,

That's funny you suggest that. I was showing DH pictures of the suite yesterday and he asked if the bedroom doors locked so we could keep them out of the bedroom and off that balcony. They really made a mess in our room and balcony the last time.

I'm trying to relax and not worry but I've never had a room like this before and never had a butler before so I'm hoping to get the most out of it.

How much bigger is the balcony on deck 9??

Hopefully the 10th floor will open up and you'll never need to know. (I still wish I was going with you guys:(

I wish everyone was coming with us, so we wouldn't have all those strangers onboard this time :p!

Smelly, the bowbalc is about a third again as large. You can draw the curtains and latch the bedroom doors...the kids will forget there's even another room there ;)

Before you got your call, I was looking at your cruise as a possible B2B (it was showing an AA gty, so thoughtMAYBE we could have our 10506, but suddenly it disappeared....I'll bet that's when they pulled it to upsell you

The difference is not in the size of the balconies, they are the same 150 sq ft. 9506 the cabin is 571 sq ft and 10506 is 750 sq ft.. In 10506 there is a dining cutout area, from what i see in pics, that's not in 9506.

We'll anyway, we'll find out the real differences between 9506 & 10506 on 9/9/06 when we join the 9506 club.

Happy Sailing,

Monty
