Port of Miami

Here goes, we are going on the Valor out of Miami. I do believe we can get cheaper flights into Fort Lauderdale and then cab it to Miami. We are not at all sure where we should spend the night though, Miami seems sort of pricey, but Fort Lauderdale is a lil farther. Any suggestions as to where we should stay in Miami would be GREATFUl;) Which part of town, which hotel.etc..

MIA is a nasty airport and I would prefer root canal over flying into it.

 

That said, fly into FLL, take a cab to Ft Lauderdale hotel and then take a private car/limo service to Port of Miami

Cab to Miami from FLL is a tad expensive. Try the shuttle at floridalimo.com, we found them to be fine.

Have only stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Miami and it was lovely.

I have a couple Questions:

1. How far is the Baggage Claim from the Terminals? Are there signs like Orlando's Airport?
   
2. How far away is the transfer service from the baggage to Carnival?
   
3. How long is the ride from MIA to the Port?
   
4. Are lines long before getting on the ship i.e the terminal where they collect your bags and seperate them from the buses?
   
5. What's near the port?(Big fan of the show Miami Ink is it nearby)

FLL is much nicer than MIA we had a late flight in that night rented a car in FLL drove to Miami Beach looked around till 2 or 3 then drove to Key West. Got to Key West early in the morning did some sight seeing then drove back to MIA airport and the rental car company shuttled us back to the pier for free. Sounds kinda odd but we are young and staying up all night didnt really bother me that much. Plus rooms in Miami are really expensive.
