Rostock

Does the NCL Dream ever dock in Rostock or are they usually docked in Warnemunde? Still trying to determine how to make the most of the time during the port stop in Germany. When you take the train to Rostock, what is the tram number that you would take to get into town to see the sights? Thank you. :)

When you get to the S-Bahn station in Warnemuende (just a short walk from the pier), you will see the destinations posted on each platform. Choose an S-bahn, not IC or ICS, headed for Rostock Hbf (Hauptbanhhof). The train is basically a shuttle between the two places, with about 8 stops along the way--it takes about 22 minutes. When you get to Rostock, walk out front to take a bus into the Zentrum for the market and other sights. The Marienkirche is under restoration, but you can still see/hear the astronomical clock located to the right side in the Nave.

Coming back was a little more complicated because the Tram is sometimes replaced by a bus--we stood in the wrong place for a while because we didn't read the (German) notice about the change. Best thing is to ask the Rostock Tourist office (near the market) exactly where to stand and what line to look for. Warnemuende is a pleasant stroll, too--both the center and the walk out to the "Mole". We were handed maps as we debarked in Warnemuende, from Celebrity Constellation, so those help.

Have you read the post on this board under Renting Car in Warnemunde?
