Princess Cays Snorkel Equipment

Someone that has rented the snorkel vests - what are they like? We already have our own vests for kayaking - are the snorkel vests the same as we use in the US for water sports? Are vests required?

I'm curious about this too, since I will be there in December, but I can't imagine that the vests would be required. Why would they? For snorkelling, their purpose is to help people who aren't strong swimmers. For kayaking, a different story, of course.

I was at Priness Cays on Fri. I had my own snorkel gear but saw what everyone else had rented. The vests are the blow up kind. You can put as much or as little air in them as you want. You also don't have to use them. You really don't need them unless you are a weak swimmer or just want the feeling of some security.

 

There are lifeguards around as well.

When you get off the tender go to the right of the pier, most people will be going to the left where there's more beachy stuff going on. The right side is where the snorkeling is.

 

Frankly I'd recommend buying and bringing your snorkel gear. That way you'll have it and it will pay off in the long haul.
