Galaxy Sky Suites?

 Hi, I am new to this process... We are booking a Meditteranean cruise on Galaxy next year and are looking at Sky Suites. I have been offered a choice of 3 mid-ship ones on Penthouse deck (1061, 1063, 1060) or two on Sky Deck, further aft - one with a large balcony and one with a small (1222, 1237). Any tips on which would be the best option?

Thanks for your help.:)

The Sky Suites on Sky Deck 12 have hugh verandas. No contest take the ones on the Sky deck. We have been in Galaxy 1203 and 1212. We have 1202 booked in March. Once, we were in a Penthouse deck 10 Cat 1 (which is now called a sky suite) and the veranda is about one quarter the size of the deck 12 sky suites.

Back in 2000 we sailed aboard Galaxy to Alaska with 2 other couples. We all sailed in what today are classified as Sky Suites. We were in 1060 and one of the couples were in 1063 (Penthouse Deck). The 3rd couple stayed in 1202 (Sky Deck).

As mentioned the Sky Deck Sky Suites are have very nice sized balconies and those are the ones that I would also recommend. The interior of a the SS on both decks are virtually identical. Back when we sailed, the Penthouse Deck SS were actually classified as Cat 1 Suites and and were priced less than the Sky Deck Sky Suites--to reflect the difference in balcony size. Now that they are all priced the same, it is a no-brainer to select the ones on the Sky Deck.

There are varying opinions on which Sky Suite is the best among the ones on the Sky Deck. Most people prefer to get the SS with the biggest balconies. Some like the SS balconies that are smaller because they offer wider sight lines when you look out from inside the cabin.

The only reason to choose 1060/1063 is if you want an exact mid-ship location or you prefer to minimize the amount of direct sunlight your balcony receives as those balconies are completely covered from the deck above. The overhanging deck also maximizes your privacy of your Penthouse Deck SS balcony; a portion of the Sky Deck SS balconies are visible from the public deck above--not a big deal for most people.
