six ships = CROWDS!

Hoping for some of your expert advice....we will be the last of 6 ships arriving in st thomas on NCL Spirit on 11/1...we'll be there from 11am-6pm, most of the others arrive earlier (7-9am) and we all leave around the same time.....

Can you help me find a beautiful sandy beach (no snorkeling necessary) with maybe a beachy bar and some food that will possibly be a little less crowded than the usually popular spots? I was thinking Lindberg/Emerald?

No tours or shopping for us this time...just a little slice of paradise ;)

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

jane

Cruise ship excursions will most likely be heading to Magen's, Coki, and Trunk Bay (St. John). Those beaches will be the most crowded.

;) In that case, you can consider:

On St. Thomas:

  • Lindberg/Emerald (which you already mentioned)
  • Secret Harbour
  • Morningstar

On St. John:

I don't think any of these have the beachy bar you're looking for but I know that there's a restaurant at Cinnamon.

  • Cinnamon Bay
  • Honeymoon Bay
  • Hawksnest

There's also Water Island, which is very close to Crown Bay. You need to take a ferry over there and if the schedule pans out, then you're in business.

More information on beaches can be found on http://www.*****

And I have photos of some of these places at: http://lrichters.smugmug.com/Travel/162954

Hi Jane!

Islander or Ms411 would be the best sources for specific information on Water Island.

I gotta tell you, after looking at some of the beach photos on ***** (http://www.*****/waterisland/ ) and reading up on it as well, I'm tempted to check it out the next time I'm on St. Thomas! We've stayed on St. Thomas and that's one place we've yet to check out.

hi debbie,

i use cruisecal...http://www.cruisecal.com/dnn/....

Linda....yes it looks beautiful and unspoiled! i will report back here if i am able to go...IF we do dock at CB and IF i am able to make the 12pm ferry.....we're supposed to arrive at 11am...first port after leaving NY....any idea how long until we would be able to get off the ship? I never even paid attention and i was just there in july :o ....

otherwise, if time does not allow we'll probably head over to Lindberg for a few hours...

thanks for your thoughts!

It looks like you will be at Crown Bay - http://www.*****/general_usvi/cruiseship/cruise_2006/STT-Nov.php

We'll be docked at WICO the same day.
