Bayonne ?port assistance RCCL

I was just wondering if anyone has traveled with RCCL out of Bayonne and how was the check in process. Both Cabins are labeled with port assistance required as my mom is in an electric wheelchair for a severe heart condition. Is there a seperate line? Is the check in speedy? Is the line indoors or out? She can't stay outside for a long time in either extremes of temperature (hot or cold) but since it will be NJ in late oct. I think we should be ok with that.

What time should we try and get there?

She gets her hoverround chair this Thursday we are all so happy about that. She will finally regain some independence. She has been relying on a manual chair that I got for her and dad pushing her around while waiting for all the insurance forms to go through. I guess I just needed to share this info with some people who would understand. I am happy that mom and I can shop the mall again and will be able to enjoy this vacation together.

If anyone has any more advice or tips for our trip to Bermuda I welcome them. She is booked in a HC room. We got lucky that there was one available even though we only booked this trip a few months before the cruise departed.

Thanks so much

and happy traveling to you all

As soon as you arrive with the port, grab a luggage attendant and ask them to help you get the staff who assist mobility challenged passengers. They will escort you to the proper line. It is usually in a covered area. We plan to arrive AFTER the announced earliest check-in and let the crowd die down first. This usually results in us being on the ship within 15-20 minutes.

Be sure you take the manual chair as well as the power chair. HoverRounds are notorious for breaking down easily (my mother has had some major problems with hers), and you will need a manual chair for any shore trips (power chairs are impractical).
