CaribbeanCruisers Posted August 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2006 Is there a weight limit on the balcony? We'd like to have all of our family (if room allows) out on one of our balconies for some group photos. There is 8 adults and 1 child. Is this too much weight? coiran Posted August 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2006 I don't think weight will be a problem as much as square footage might be. Ron

katier825 Posted August 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2006 We had 10 adults on the Golden Princess, Caribe deck. Crowded, but sure was fun!
98Charlie Posted August 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2006 Plan to do it on the first day. By the end of the cruise the weight could be significantly more. "Thank you waiter, I'll have all four desserts tonight:D ............again:eek: " Charlie

marlinmike Posted August 30, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2006 We had 9 adults on E730 on the Crown. The thought crossed my mind until and "Marlinritas" took over. They're solid as a rock!

Sandytoes Posted August 30, 2006 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2006 Depending on the size of the balcony. More room - more weight - load per square foot ruling.
DanBoy Posted August 30, 2006 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2006 I saw a VERY interesting program on Travel Channel a while back...How they constructed one of the Royal Carib ships..It was fascinating. I believe they showed how the balcony actually was an "extension" of the cabin,,,not bolted or hammered and nailed in after the fact...Everything is modular...The entire cabin is "dropped into the slot of the frame"..The jutting out balcony part was already there as part of the ship construction..Not to worry... CaribbeanCruisers Posted August 31, 2006 Author #13 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Thanks for all the answers, everyone... Jennew, In response to your comment - It was an honest question and I was looking for honest answers. In all the cruises I have been on I have never been on a balcony so I really had no clue. And, if you don't know an answer to something, you ask. It's that simple. Anything that is suspended in air has some sort of weight limit. I didn't want to have pictures taken on the balcony of all of us not knowing the limit, and wondering all the while! Otherwise we'd all look like this in the photos ----->:confused: :confused::eek: Thanks again CC! Courtney

calikak Posted August 31, 2006 #15 Share Posted August 31, 2006 The caribe deck balconies are built on the ceiling of the dolphin deck cabins below them, so I wouldn't hestitate to pack as many people out there as will fit.
smoothdancer Posted August 31, 2006 #16 Share Posted August 31, 2006 I have to admit I thought the thread title was strange.... Thinking what on earth is this person thinking about putting on the balcony???... Never even thought it might be people!! You are right, if you dont know a answer and have a concern, then you should ask the question... I am gald you got answers.
Iamthesea Posted September 1, 2006 #17 Share Posted September 1, 2006 I thought it was an excellent question, especially after our hometown has had two major deck collapses in the past year. Tons of people injured! They were taking pictures at family reunions. One victim says she was taking the photo of her group. She looked at the group, and then looked into the viewfinder and everyone was gone, then she went!
