fg159 Posted September 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2006 I will be taking my first river cruise on Avalon next summer. I am interested in knowing how the majority of people dress for dinner. I know that formal wear is not requird. Do the majority people dress up for dinner such as wearing a sports coat or dress? I don't want to take them unless they are absoluely needed. Thank you for your responses.
npphotog Posted September 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2006 You will find river cruises are more casual than ocean cruises. Most folks went to dinner with clothes they wore during the day. BUT there usually are two nights, Captains dinner and Farewell dinner where they suggest sport coat with tie and ladies with pant suits or dresses. This is really up to the people but most men wear coats - those who didn't stood out. I think we only had about 5 or 6 men who wore nice sport shirts. You choice. relevart Posted September 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2006 On my Russian cruise the two captains nights most men wore shirt and tie but not jackets. The women usually wore a nice top.
Judyumcer@aol.com Posted September 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2006 My husband and I decided to lighten the load and not bring anything not absolutely necessary. I think a dress shirt and tie will be fine. So, no sport jacket this trip. Judy
