We are shortly going on Th NCL western caribean cruise which goes to Belize, Guatemala and Mexico and we are wondering what currencies we need to purchase. We are from Europe so we will have USdollars for New Orleans but should we have pesos, quetzalas and Belize dollars?.

We like to go for drinks,tapas or even a meal in local bars and would hate to find they don't take US$.

U.S. currency works in most places. I bargained in Spanish for 30 minutes in Cozumel with a vendor and when I said, "No tengo dinero", he responded in perfect English, "It is no problem, Senor, we take plastic.";) The only place that we had to have pesos was in a small store in Progreso. But I must confess, we were a good distance from the Malecon. ( a.k.a. Tourest Trap.)
