Are there independent tour operators at the dock area (cheaper)?

Does anyone know if there are independent operators you can just catch as you get off the ship or in town at Progresso. We want to go to Chechin Itza but with 8 don't want to spend $750 or so. Hoping to catch an independent in town.

Are they around?

What do they charge?

At other ports we have always gone for at least half compared to the ship's prices.

Hi I would also like to know if there are any independant tour operators!!

I have researched the board and come across http://www.mayanroutes.com/tours/progreso/index.html but is there anyone who has used them?

Will there be tons of cabs at this port who will drive groups of people far distances like Chichen Itza or Uxmal??

I remember in Dominica there were tons of drivers willing to take people all over the island for hours, just hoping the same will happen here. :)
