Hi folks!

Friendly neighbourhood Bermudian here. This just came to the gallery from teh Chamber of Commerce concerning scheduled Cruise Ships for next week. They don't make annoucements without hearing from the Cruise Line shipping agents first.

Dear Industry Partners:

With Tropical Storm (Hurricane) Florence headed directly our way please be advised of the following cruise ship schedule over the next few days:

M.S. Crown Princess eta Sunday (10-09-06) has cancelled her Port Call to Kings Wharf, Dockyard.

M.S. Empress of the Seas and M.V. Zenith, eta Monday (11-09-06) will by-pass Bermuda for ports to the south of us.

M.S. Grandeur of the Seas eta Tuesday (12-09-06) has cancelled her port call to Bermuda.

M.S. Norwegian Crown and M.S. Norwegian Majesty eta Tuesday (12-09-06) will probably depart New York and Boston on schedule and steam south near the U.S. East Coast and await the passage of Florence north of Bermuda. Both ships will probably arrive in Bermuda Wednesday (13-09-06) morning.

Kind regards,

Fiona Lines

Divisional Coordinator

Acting Premier Ewart Brown said Bermuda was no stranger to hurricanes after Hurricane Emily nearly 20 years ago and 2003's Hurricane Fabian, which killed four and did about $500 million damage.

"It is my genuine belief that, should we sustain serious damage in the wake of this storm, we will rally together once again to ensure that our island is up and running as swiftly as possible," Brown said.

Bermuda is clearly the most wealthy of the Islands. After Fabian the cruise ships returned the following week(they only missed the week of the storm itself). Bermuda has very high building code standards and suffered relatively little damage for such a Hurricaine. At least two or three of the deaths occured outside during the storm when someone tried to drive accross a causeway that was destroyed.(I think the causeway was the major damage). Some hotels that were exposed to the sea suffered significant damage. But we have been back twice since then and the Island rapidly recoved.

Coli, that was a great update for that week. can we go to the bermudian COC website and see this ourselves? if not, can you give a current update? my cruise is still 30+ days away, but i'd like to see how the ships' captains are reacting to the weather around bermuda.

thanks.
